I finally finished my finals! Horraay!
Now I need to catch up to all the sleep I missed during the last two weeks.
I read tons of fanfiction during the last two weeks. For some reason, I just couldn't focus on any original stories. Anyway, I I had a strong desire to read WWE fanfics. More specifically, John Cena/Randy Orton fics. I've shipped them for a long time now and every now and then I would go through a time in which I just don't read any fics except for them. There aren't a very popular pair, at least not on AO3. I finished about half of the fics there. When I'm done, I will go hunt for more on other websites. And maybe read more for the Sheild. Preferably the three of them together.
The only fanfic I read that wasn't a WWE one was I've Got Nothing To Do Today But Smile, which was absolutely lovely. I adored it. Gyzym has always been one of my favourite fanfic writers and when I read that fic, I remembered why. Her fanfics are amazing. Especially her Inception ones. She captures Eames and Arthur's voices so perfectly. Her series Where You Will Be (That's Where I'll Call Home) is a perfect example. Basically, I recommend all her fics.
I also watched Jane Eyre. I read the book last year, and have been meaning to watch the movie for quite some time. But for whatever reason, I never managed to except for a few days earlier. It was really good, and now I want to read more historical fiction.
Also, there is a marathon that happens every Friday in my city and I'm thinking on joining. I'm not the most athletic person ever, so it will be quite a challenge. I'm not planning to finish it. Just see how much I will be able to run, and also I will meet a couple of my friends there. Should be fun, and exhausting.

Date: 20/5/15 08:37 pm (UTC)I read a HP fic the other that was 50 freaking chapters long! I was reading it each evening and it was sucking my life away. I love to read but I cannot sit still for too long. I have to move around. So sitting for the better part of four hours was oddish. I only made it to chapter 40 and then the plot flagged a bit. Pity.
Was it the Mia Wasikowska/Michael Fassbender Jane Eyre? That film is so atmospheric! I love love it!
JE is definitely my favorite Bronte sister book.
Have you ever read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell??? I am going to pimp the living hell out of it in a post today or tomorrow. OH MY GOODNESS. I cannot praise this book enough! It's some of the best historical fiction I have ever read! Came out in 2004. I got the hardback in 2005 and read it every Summer. Now there is a BBC mini series based on it. One ep has come out and it is incredible.
If you like Regency England, wit, dry humor, random hilarity, and minutely described scenes with elegant language interlaced with magic, a boatload of Anglophilia and the Napoleonic wars..READ IT. The Duke of Wellington alone might be worth the price of admission and he is a footnote compared to other deliciously conceived characters. It does not disappoint. It is super long (~ 780 pages) and the sort of thing that you can soak in for weeks.
/gush
I am athletic but running, eugh. I was a swimmer, dancer. But running always messed up my back and my shins. If you can have fun doing it though and feel accomplished, that is what matters. :) I had an uncle who obsessed over doing marathons and he was always injured and never really satisfied.
Long reply is loooong.

Date: 20/5/15 10:15 pm (UTC)I currently have a HP fanfic that I'm thinking of reading, but it is really really long and I don't know if I have the energy to focus on it yet. I think I will finish the books I'm currently reading first (On the Jellicoe Road, by Melina Marchetta) then decide then.
Yes, It was lovely. Fassbender did such an awesome job. :)
I haven't read any Bronte book except for JE. It is supposedly the best one, but I will have to see for myself since I haven't even read anything for the other two sisters. Have you read any, other than that one?
This seems like exactly my type of book! It is long though, so I will have to buy a paper copy, which sucks cause I can't buy any new books without finishing the ones I just bought. (House rules. Awful but hey, at least I do read what I buy.) I will keep it in mind for the next time I shop for books though. :)
I imagine that I will collapse in exhaustion about the first 20 minutes. x) I don't do any sort of exercise. Love dancing but I suck at it, I'm afraid.
I'm just going to enjoy walking along the beach and laugh at my own and my friends' weakness XD.
But in all seriousness though, I would love to get healthy this summer so this is my first step. I will also hopefully sign up to a gym soon. So we will see how it goes.

Date: 21/5/15 10:21 am (UTC)I was asked a while back about my favourite books and authors, and realised I'd read nothing but fanfic for the longest time. I don't think that's a bad thing, it just means my mind goes blank at questions like that!
Gyzym sounds familiar, does she write in other fandoms?
A friend of mine is into WWE as well. I can ask her if she has any recs for you, if you like.

Date: 21/5/15 06:55 pm (UTC)Me too. And because people often don't know what's fanfiction/ frown on it, I usually don't mention it. I'm trying to get back to original books though. There are so many books out there that I wanna read. Plus, I bought some the other day and they have been staring at me ever since, silently judging me for neglecting them.
She writes in lots of fandoms. Mainly Inception, Harry Potter, Avengers, Good Omens and White Collar. I haven't read all her fanfics, but so far everything I've read by her is amazing.
That would be great. I would love some recommendations. :)

Date: 28/6/15 09:07 am (UTC)I asked my friend. She didn't have many recs but said she wrote a Orton/Cena fic here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/65314
and that this was the link for the OT3 pairing on AO3. You might have already seen these, but hope they do lead to something new.
